First-Generation @ Scripps Pre-Orientation

The First-Generation @ Scripps Pre-Orientation is designed to support the transition to college for students who are the first in their families to attend a four-year institution. The pre-orientation provides a range of sessions and workshops to position you to get the most out of your college experience including:

  • Navigating academics
  • Knowing your resources
  • Communicating with faculty
  • Working as a student and how to find a job
  • Understanding your financial aid resources
  • Getting involved at Scripps and The Claremont Colleges
  • Meeting student leaders
  • In-depth tour of Scripps College and campus resources

Most importantly, while the program is completely voluntary, it is a valuable opportunity to connect with other students and future mentors!

Pre-orientation will take place at Scripps College from Sunday, August 26 – Tuesday, August 28, 2018.  Scripps will provide all participants with housing for three nights (Sunday – Tuesday) and all meals during the program at no cost.  Students who attend the pre-orientation program will be responsible for their own transportation to campus on Sunday, August 26 by 12:00 p.mThe deadline to register is Monday, July 9, 2018.

All students who attend the First-Gen Pre-Orientation will go right into New Student Programs and Orientation (NSPO) for all new students on the morning of Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
