Welcome to the 2016-2017 academic school year at Scripps! Below please find information to assist you in getting settled into the new academic year successfully!

2016-17 Scripps Academic Calendar

Fall 2016 Returning Student Move-in Information: The residence halls open for continuing students on Sunday, Aug 28 from 10am-10pm. Returning students can check into the GJW Rec Room to receive their room key.  If you are unable to check in during this designated date and time please email reslife@scrippscollege.edu.

Spring 2017 Returning Student Move-in Information: The residence halls open for continuing students on Sunday, January 15 from 10am-10pm.

Housing Accommodations: If you require housing accommodations to assist in your success at the institution, please click here to read more information and submit a formal request for review or renewal of your current request.

Animal Policy: Residents are permitted to have fish in a contained enclosure no larger than 10 gallons within their room. Any other animals are prohibited.

What to leave at home/What to bring: For your convenience, please check out this list of suggested items to help you move into your hall successfully and what items not to bring with you.

Student Health Insurance: The Claremont Colleges require that all students have health insurance. Students can obtain coverage via their own health insurance plan, their parents’ plan, or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) offered by The Claremont Colleges. Live Safe: LiveSafe is an optional application that community members can use to share information, tips, and safety concerns with Campus Safety via text messaging, including picture video, and audio attachments, or even through live chat. Although LiveSafe does not replace contacting 911 or Campus Safety in a life threatening or emergent situation, it does allow users reporting at their fingertips.

Parking: If you are bring a car to campus it is important to make sure that it is registered at Campus Safety. You will need your car registration card and driver’s license. Once processed you will receive a sticker to put in your car notating clearance to park on campus in designated student parking spots. Please only park in designated students spots otherwise you may be ticketed and/or towed at your expense. Register your Vehicle in Advance.

Storage: Students may elect to store their personal belongings in the basements of their residence halls, during the academic year, at their own risk. Basement storage is not secured or managed by the college. Throughout the summer, there is no storage available on campus for student items. Students may elect to rent storage units off campus, bring their belongings home, or rent storage boxes. Storage boxes may only  be dropped off in designated zone locations (click on image to enlarge) and may only be present on campus for a three day period maximum.  must be picked up within 3 days of you moving into your residence hall room. If you would like to utilize a storage box service for the beginning of the school year please complete this form.

We encourage you to be vigilant about securing your storage boxes appropriately, as Scripps staff does not monitor the boxes.

Local Storage Facilities

Microfridges: If you would like to rent a microfridge for your room please go to www.CollegeFridge.com and place your order with a credit card (MasterCard or VISA) or complete the form and mail it to the company along with your check or credit card number for the total amount due. You may also call 515-597-2303 and use your credit card to place an order for your MicroFridge®. Prices will be slightly higher after the cutoff date of August 1st, 2016.

Maintenance Requests: In the event that your room needs attention by a Scripps Maintenance worker please contact your RA on your floor or a Housing Professional Staff member located within their offices in the Frankel-Routt Lobby to place a request.

Residence Hall Lockout Policy: Students are allowed two free lockouts per year, after that all key services will cost $25 and will be billed to the respective student account at the end of each semester.

On Call Staff: There is always an oncall staff member available 24/7 to address emergent issues on campus. In the event that you need assistance please contact your RA. In extreme situations the Dean of Students on call may also be contacted by the RA on your behalf. For further information please reach out to your local RA or Dean of Students Staff Member.
