New Student Orientation

Letter from Associate Dean of Campus Life

Samuel-HaynesMay 13, 2016

Dear New Scripps Students,

On behalf of the Scripps College community, welcome! You are a member of an extraordinary entering class, and we are delighted you will be joining us this fall.

The first year of college can be exhilarating; you will most likely encounter new intellectual, social, and personal challenges. Please know that Student Affairs staff, your faculty advisor, and members of the greater Scripps community are ready and available to assist you.

Before arriving on campus, it is essential that you complete a number of important forms to make your transition to campus life a smooth one. To aid you in your transition, I am excited to introduce you to the Scripps College intranet, specifically the New Student Orientation (NSO) site.

I suggest you look at the forms checklist right away; there you will find a collection of important documents you need to fill out and return to us by the identified deadlines. (The first deadline is July 1, 2016.) The NSO page includes information about academic affairs, billing, computing services, important dates, your arrival to campus, and information about the NSO program. I encourage you to visit it often throughout the summer for updates and new information.

I am very excited to meet you all! I, and many others, look forward to your arrival on campus on Thursday, August 25, 2016. If you have any questions regarding new student orientation, please feel free to call the Student Activities and Residential Life Office (SARLO) Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PST at (909) 607-4307.

I wish you a great summer ahead. Cheers to the Class of 2020!
