Summer Construction/Renovation projects

Posted: May 20, 2015

Summer is here and for the Facilities and Grounds Departments, that means construction and renovation time………

Most exterior building construction will not begin until 8am. Interior work, where noise will not impact residents or summer conferences, may begin earlier.

Kimberly Residence Hall:

Demo and construction has already started and it will include: a new roof,  air conditioning, an elevator, the formal entrance will be moved to the west side, lobby renovations, offices, ADA accessibility, new carpet, paint and furnishings for the public areas. We expect this project to be completed in mid-August.

The NEW Residence Hall:

Construction will continue on the new residence hall. We will keep you posted regarding road closures or utility outages regarding this project

Please note that due to water conservation mandates, the following areas will be work in progress during the end of May through June.

Revelle House front lawn, Kimberly Courtyard, Fire lane- between Margaret Fowler Garden and Kimberly Hall, Lawn between GJW and Kimberly, South of Senior Apartments (East of Dorsey), Hibiscus Court, outside of the Dean of Faculty Office, and West of Humanities lawn between the Bird of Paradise. The new water use mandate only allows for watering two times a week for 15 minutes per station; therefore, many of our remaining lawns will not be up to our  normal appearance conditions.

We thank you for your patience and support as contractors work through these areas.
