CMS Athletics Week in Review: September 16-22

Cross Country

The Athenas had the week off from competition as they trained for the Stanford Invitational, which is on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Women’s Soccer

This past week the Athenas lost to Chapman (1-0) and tied La Verne in double overtime (0-0) to bring their overall record to 1-4-2 and 0-1-1 in conference play, which puts them in a tie for sixth place. The Athenas’ next match is at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 against Pomona-Pitzer.


The No. 20 Athenas won home matches against Whittier (3-0) and Caltech (3-0) while Chapman (3-2) handed CMS its first loss of the season. Freshman Nicole Kerkhof (CMC) had a combined 47 kills and 34 digs in the three matches to help raise their season record to 10-1 overall. CMS is now 2-1 in conference play and in fifth place overall. Their next match is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at La Verne.
