CMS Athletics Week in Review: October 21-27

This week the Athenas had a bye as the team continues to train for the SCIAC Championships meet on Nov. 2 at Prado Park.
The Athenas lost to Cal Lutheran (1-0) Wednesday and beat Redlands (1-0) at home on Saturday in their final home game of the regular season, which was Senior Day. Junior Elizabeth Augustine (CMC) scored the sole unassisted goal in the Redlands game to win the Athenas’ last home game for the seniors. Their overall record is 6-8-3 and 5-5-2 in SCIAC, which puts them in fourth place. Their next match is on Oct. 30 at Occidental.
Last week saw the Athenas win at Whittier (3-1) on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and lost to Cal Lutheran (3-2) on Friday at home and Pomona-Pitzer (3-1) on Saturday on the road. In the team’s win at Whittier, Regina Mullen (CMC) had a season-high 20 kills for the Athenas. CMS now stands at 21-5 overall and 9-5 in SCIAC, which puts the team in fourth place. Their next match is at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at home against Occidental and then they play at Redlands at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 to close out the regular season.
