CMS Athletics Week in Review: January 26-February 1

The Athena basketball team went 2-0 last week, extending its win streak to 13 as it beat Occidental 63-45 and Whittier 58-39. Against Whittier, Kim Scamman (CMC ’15) scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Alyson Young (CMC ’17) tied her career and season high with 12 points. CMS is now 17-3 overall, 11-0 in the SCIAC. The Athenas face Chapman at home at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4.
Women’s Swimming and Diving
The Athena swimming and diving team defeated Redlands 167-76 and set a pool record along the way. The Athenas’ 400-yard relay team of Kelly Ngo (CMC ’17), Stephanie Doi (CMC ’17), Lorea Gwo (CMC ’18) and LillyBelle Deer (CMC ’15) broke the four-minute barrier with a time of 3:59.71 to beat a previous pool record set by CMS in 2011. CMS improves to 7-0 in the conference. The Athenas will be back in action on Feb. 7 as they take on Pomona-Pitzer at Axelrood. Diving begins at 10 a.m. with Senior Recognition and then swimming competition slated for 11 a.m.
