CMS Athletics Week in Review: January 19-25

Women’s Basketball

The Athena basketball team went 2-0 last week, beating Cal Lu 50-38 and cross-town rival Pomona 71 -41. Against Cal Lu, Claire Donnelly (CMC ’17) recorded her first career double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Against Pomona, Kim Scamman (CMC ’15) recorded her second double-double of the week with 17 points and 11 rebounds. CMS is now 15-3 overall, 9-0 in the SCIAC. The Athenas face Occidental at home at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 and then travel to Whittier to take on the Poets at 5 p.m. Jan 31.

Women’s Swimming and Diving

The Athena swimming and diving team defeated Caltech 247-25 and Whittier 224-75 in a dual meet on Saturday hosted at Pasadena City College. In the dual meet, the Athenas had one triple event winner as Kelly Ngo (CMC ’17) won 100-yard breaststroke and was on the first-place 200-yard free relay and 200-yard medley relay teams. CMS improves to 6-0 in the conference. The Athenas will be back in action on Jan. 31 as they travel to Redlands to take on the Bulldogs at 11 a.m.
