CMS Athletics Week in Review: February 23-March 1

The Athena basketball team won the SCIAC Tournament last week, defeating Redlands (56-49) on Thursday and Cal Lu (60-43) on Saturday in the championship game. In the victory over Redlands, Kris Brackmann, (CMC ’17) recorded her first double-double of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds. In the championship game against Cal Lu, four Athenas scored in double figures, led by Kim Scamman (CMC ’15) with 14 points and nine rebounds. The SCIAC tournament title means that the Athenas get an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, where they will travel to George Fox University in Oregon to play Puget Sound on Friday at 5 p.m. PST. Women’s Swimming and Diving
Three divers from the women’s swimming and diving team participated in the NCAA diving qualifier in San Antonio, Texas. Maia Presti (SCR ’17) earned a trip to the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter dive as she finished third out of 18 divers with a score of 402.00. Mary Lynn Clark (SCR ’17) finished 11th with a score of 324.95 and Carli Lessard (HMC ’17) finished 14th with a score of 315.30. Next up for the Athenas is the Division III National Championships in Shenandoah, Texas, from March 18-21.
