CMS Athletics Week in Review: December 2-8

The Athenas gained an 85-74 win in their SCIAC opener against Whittier on Dec. 5 on the road. Senior guard Kyra Ray (SCR) led the team in scoring with 18 points as she connected on 4 of 7 from behind the three-point line. The victory brings their overall record to 6-1, 1-0 in conference play. Their next game is against Pomona-Pitzer at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 in Ducey Gymnasium.
Women’s Swimming & Diving
The Athenas opened SCIAC action with dual meet wins over Chapman University (200-42) and Whittier College (199-43) on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Whittier. CMS won each of the day’s 13 events, including 1-2-3 sweeps in the 400 medley relay, 200 free, 400 IM, 200 butterfly, 100 free, 200 backstroke and both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. The Athenas now have over a month off from competition before returning to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 11 for their home-opening meet against La Verne.
