Claremont College Library Dean Search
Posted: January 16, 2013
I am writing to you as the Chair of the search committee for the A.J. McFadden Dean of the Library of the Claremont Colleges. As you know, the search committee and sub-committees (one each for students, faculty and library staff) have been meeting this Fall semester with constituent groups on each campus as well as the CUC. The purpose of this outreach has been for us to collectively arrive at a better understanding of our hopes and aspirations for our library. Building off of the new library governance agreement and the Library’s Key Strategic Directions, the search committee believes we have had many important conversations which have put in place the necessary building blocks for a successful search.
Next week the search committee will meet to narrow down the list of very accomplished candidates to a list of semi-finalists. The search committee will meet off-site with these semi-finalists on January 26 and 27for interviews that will last approximately 90 minutes each. At the completion of these interviews, the search committee will select a few exceptional candidates to be finalists for on-campus visits at the Claremont Colleges. We currently anticipate that the finalists will be at the Claremont Colleges during the time periods February 4-6 and 11-13. We will know more about the specifics of the visits in a few weeks, and I appreciate your continued patience. Please make a note in your calendars for the dates of these on-campus visits.
Finally, as we go through this critical and important process of hiring the A.J. McFadden Dean of the Library, please reach out to my office if you have any questions or concerns.
With best wishes,
