A Message to The Claremont Colleges Community Regarding Christopher Hubbart
Posted: July 19, 2013
Recently The Claremont Colleges and the larger community have become aware of the impending release of convicted rapist, Christopher Hubbart. Although a release date and location have yet to be finalized, Hubbart is a former resident of Claremont and it is possible that he will return to the area. The Colleges take this possibility seriously and are closely monitoring the situation.
Based on information we have received from the Claremont Police Department (CPD), if Hubbart is to be released to the area the CPD will be notified at least 30 days prior to his release date. As of this date, neither the City nor the CPD has been contacted to notify them of Hubbart’s release or to specify a location for his release. I am in communication with the Claremont Police and will keep the community updated as we have more information
regarding his release.
As the Director of Campus Safety I am closely monitoring this situation and am working with officials at the Colleges regarding next steps should we be notified that Hubbart will be released to Claremont or Los Angeles County.
