Scripps College encourages employees who abuse alcohol or drugs to promptly seek treatment. To that end, Scripps College reasonably accommodates individuals who voluntarily seek drug or alcohol treatment. This policy is intended to assist employees who voluntarily seek drug or alcohol treatment and does not excuse employee drug or alcohol use in the workplace. In situations where an employee requests leave only after he or she has been discovered to have been working under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the leave request may be denied and the employee terminated for misconduct. Although such leave is unpaid, employees may use available vacation or sick leave.
