Emergency Personnel Leave

Date Updated: May 9th, 2012

Employees are eligible to take unpaid leave for emergency duty as a volunteer firefighter, reserve peace officer or emergency rescue personnel as set forth in applicable state law. In addition, all volunteer firefighters are permitted to take temporary leaves of absence, not to exceed an aggregate of 14 days per calendar year, for the purpose of engaging in fire or law enforcement training.   Although such leave is unpaid, employees may use available vacation pay. If you require such leave, please contact Office of Human Resources for additional information.
