Scripps College offers paid sick leave to regular full-time or part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week. Sick leave may be used only when required to recover from illness or injury or to attend to medical or dental appointments. Sick leave may not be used for “personal” absences. Scripps College will not tolerate abuse or misuse of the College sick leave privilege.
Employees accumulate one day of sick leave per calendar month, to a maximum of 91 days. (“One day” is equal to the number of hours in your normal workday.) Sick leave days are accumulated only for each calendar month in which you are on paid status for 15 days or more. Sick leave does not accumulate during an unpaid leave of absence. Sick leave has no cash value upon termination from Scripps College.
Exempt staff members may use sick time in no less than half-day (4-hour) increments.
