Q. What do I need to enter the Malott Dining Commons for a meal?
A. If you are on a meal plan, you will need your student ID card for our cashier to swipe, or you can tap pass your card. You may also use your Board Plus dollars to pay for meals for yourself or your guests.
If you are not on a meal plan, you may use Claremont Cash or cash to pay for meals. You can add Claremont Cash to your ID card online or at the Connection at the Honnold Library.
And besides your clothes, shoes are required at all times in the Commons!
Q. What take-out options do you provide?
A. Students at the 5-C’s receive eco-friendly take-out containers and cups as freshmen. These can be used to take food and beverage out. When you return to a dining hall you deposit the dirty containers and pick up clean ones for use at that meal. You can also deposit the containers at the cashier for use later-they will be deposited on your ID card for later pick up. If you lose your containers or need to purchase new ones, they are available for sale for Board Plus or cash.
Paper compostable take-out containers are also available for purchase with Board Plus or cash at a nominal charge. These are for a one-time use and cannot be exchanged for the eco-friendly plastic containers.
Q. What if I have to miss a meal?
A. If you need to miss a meal due to work schedule or other reasons, you can request a box meal from the Dining Commons. Forms are available from the table behind the main cashier, and you can request a form from our business office or a manager.
Fill out the form and return to a manager or cashier and you may pick up your meal anytime between 7:00 am-7:00 pm during weekdays and weekends. Your meal card number is required for all box meals.
Q. Does the Dining Commons provide pack-out meals for groups?
A. The Dining Commons provides pack-out meals for College sponsored trips or outings approved by SARLO. Forms are available at the table behind the main cashier or from our business office or from a manager.
Pack-outs are limited to groups of more than 20 and must be arranged at least 72 hours in advance. Lists of meal card numbers are required for all pack-outs.
Q. What options are available for customers with food allergies?
A. Our Healthy U station in the Malott Dining Commons can help customers with specific food allergies. On this station you will find Vegan and Vegetarian options, plus Gluten Free and Allergy Free food choices. If you have a food allergy and cannot choose foods from this station, you can make an appointment with our Executive Chef to go over your specific needs.
