Transportation

Daytime Cart Service for Temporary Ambulatory Disabilities

The purpose of this cart service is to provide transportation for students with temporary disabilities that significantly limit mobility. This is a limited and free service only for Scripps students.

To Request Services:

  • Submit documentation to the Dean of Students Office indicating the type of disability, severity, limitations, prognosis, and estimated duration of the disabling condition.
  • Complete the Transportation Services for Temporary Disabilities Form and provide a class schedule.
  • Make an appointment with the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Academic Support services to discuss transportation needs and determine a plan.

Transportation is only provided to and from classes at other Claremont Colleges. Transportation is not provided within the Scripps campus. Additionally, transportation is not provided outside of The Claremont Colleges (i.e., off-campus housing, The Village, off-campus appointments).

Transportation Availability

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm. After-hours transportation may be provided by Campus Safety on a case-by-case basis depending on demand.
Transportation services can only be provided for a maximum of four weeks. Thereafter it is the responsibility of the student to identify an option for extended transportation services.

Note: Service may be limited by the number of requests received during a given time period. Every attempt will be made to meet the rider’s request for service.

Other Resources for Temporary Ambulatory Disabilities

Temporary Parking Permit

In some circumstances, Scripps students may be approved for a temporary parking permit to get to and from classes at the other Claremont Colleges. This permit is granted for a limited amount of time and is not renewable. Scripps students must already possess an approved Scripps parking permit to be eligible. For approval, talk to the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Academic Support Services about an Inter-Campus parking permit.

Electric Scooter

For students that have a need for transportation services beyond four weeks, it is recommended that they look into renting a scooter. Below are some resources to consider:
