New Student Orientation

Student Interest Form 2016

Dear New Student:

Hello and welcome to Scripps College! When you arrive on campus, you will discover many opportunities to become involved both inside and outside of the classroom. Scripps students share their talents and interests by participating in CLORGS (CLubs and ORGanizations). Whether it is connecting with like-minded individuals, doing something they love, learning something new, or supporting a favorite cause, Scripps offers an abundance of opportunities for personal growth, friendship, and fun. Scripps has about 37 active clubs and organizations, including student-run sponsor groups.

As a new student, you may choose to participate in student-run peer advisory programs that pair new students with returning students, and help provide support on all aspects of life at Scripps. The College’s CLORGS cover a wide range of interests, including academics, culture, community service, athletics, spirituality/religion, the arts, social justice, and campus engagement. Some groups are 5-College (5C), and include students from all five undergraduate colleges of The Claremont Colleges. On the following pages is information about each organization and a partial listing of 5C clubs and organizations.

At Scripps, there will be opportunities for you to interact with the groups that interest you. On Wednesday, August 31 from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Scripps Tea in Seal Court will showcase Scripps CLORGS, including many new groups. On Tuesday, September 13, during the annual 5C Student Activities Committee Turf Dinner, also held at Scripps College, you can find out more about 5C clubs and organizations. Scripps students are actively involved in creating new clubs; if you would like to try something new, just let us know.

Browse the list, and complete the online interest form by August 1, 2016. Your information will be shared with the selected organizations. I look forward to learning about your passions and helping you become involved in the Scripps Community. If you have questions during the summer, please call the Student Activities and Residential Life Office at (909) 607-4307.

Sincerely,

The Student Activities Staff
