Welcome Reception
For families arriving to Claremont early, come to campus for an informal Welcome Reception with Senior Staff of Scripps. Drop in for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Have questions about Orientation? Look for the people wearing the “Ask Me” buttons.

Campus staff, peer mentors, and Scripps Associated Students (SAS) members will greet you and help you check-in. Stop by a Scripps Association of Families table to checkout a moving dolly!

For those “in-between” times, rest in this iconic, air-conditioned student hangout. Enjoy cool beverages and light refreshments, courtesy of the Scripps Association of Families. Stroll across Seal Court to the Scripps Store to purchase College merchandise.
8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Motley Coffeehouse, Seal Court Write a Letter to Your Student
Write a heartfelt note to your student as they embark on their new journey. Letters will be delivered to student mailboxes during the first two weeks of school.
10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  Top of Wood Steps Family Photo Booth – Capture the moment!
Please take a commemorative picture with your student at our professional photo booth. Photos will be placed in a keepsake ‘Class of 2020’ silver frame and ready for pick-up at the President’s Reception at 5:30pm.
11:00 a.m.-Noon Garrison Theater, Performing Arts Center New Student Welcome

Have questions about programs or resources available to your Scripps student? Attend one or all of our essential information sessions for parents. Staff and faculty from some of our most relevant programs will give mini-presentations about the programs and services offered to your first-year student. Rotate in and out of each classroom and don’t forget to bring your questions.

5:00-5:30 p.m. Families and Friends Say Goodbye to Students
Take a few personal minutes with your student to say goodbye.
5:30-6:30 p.m. Elm Tree Lawn President’s Reception (Families Only)
Since the suitcases have been unpacked and you have said your goodbyes, please join President Larissa Z. Tiedens and the Scripps Association of Families Co-Chairs on Elm Tree Lawn, for a casual (come as you are) reception. Relax and enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres with other families.  This will be your only opportunity to pick up your framed family photo!
