Transitional Support for Office of Student Affairs

Posted: October 14, 2013

Dear Scripps College Community,

Losing someone we care deeply about, like Bekki, is very painful and we are all experiencing difficult emotions. There is no wrong or right way to cope with the pain of loss and it will take time for us to heal.

Bekki was not only a good friend, she was also a community builder. She would want us to take care of each other, and in this spirit, Linda Scott will be on campus to support Sam Haynes and the Student Affairs team. As many of you know, Linda has been a member of the Scripps community for over 35 years. She retired in 2011 from her position as Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees after serving in multiple roles for the College. Her steady hand and knowledge of the campus community will be of great assistance to all in the coming days. I will keep you informed as decisions and plans are made to support student affairs and the campus community

I encourage all of you to take care of yourselves and each other. Grief counseling will continue to be available through Monsour Counseling Center, the Chaplain’s Office, and the Employee Assistance Program.

Sincerely,

Lori Bettison-Varga
