Lean In with Sheryl Sandberg
Posted: October 25, 2013
According to Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, it’s time to examine and break down the barriers preventing women from becoming leaders in the workplace – and Scripps has the opportunity to be part of the discussion.
On Monday, October 28, Scripps College will join universities across the nation in a live discussion with Sandberg, author of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. The talk will be streamed in the Humanities Auditorium at 4:00pm.
Sandberg continues her ongoing efforts to elevate the status of women worldwide by discussing the importance of women’s leadership. During the webinar, she will also answer questions from students about closing the leadership gap.
“When women are empowered, everyone is empowered,” says Scripps Associated Students president Marta Bean ’14. “It should be interesting to hear Sheryl’s opinions and see how the seminar leads to students getting more invested and interested in women’s leadership. I hope it leads to a productive conversation about what women’s leadership means and how we can tailor it at Scripps.”
