Earthquake Drill a Success!
Posted: November 16, 2012
This year’s annual earthquake drill, part of The Great California ShakeOut, was a huge success! Students, faculty, and staff were given the opportunity to practice emergency response protocols in the event of a campus-wide disaster/emergency, and a follow-up survey indicated students, staff, and faculty generally felt well-prepared, knowledgeable, and safe in regards to emergency preparation.
The Scripps community was notified by text message, e-mail, and phone calls in a matter of minutes. They were directed to drop, cover, and hold on followed by evacuation and reporting to a department monitor or resident advisor. We appreciate the many suggestions received on how to improve the drill. The Emergency Readiness Committee thanks the Scripps community and the incident response teams for their participation.
