Athenas water polo stands 6-11 overall after completing a 1-3 weekend at the Claremont Convergence Tournament. The team opened the tournament on Friday with losses to Cal Baptist (13-7) and Indiana (14-8) before defeating Virginia Military Institute at home on Saturday. The team finished their weekend of competition with another loss to UC San Diego (17-8).

Softball narrowly lost the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic championship over the weekend in Columbus, Georgia against some of the nation’s top teams. Instead, No. 11 Trine came back in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat CMS 5-4 and win the three-day tournament. Nevertheless, it was an impressive weekend for the Athenas, who beat No.7 Christopher Newport, No. 25 East Texas Baptist, No. 23 Cortland State, and No. 9 Linfield. The Athenas are now 11-6 overall and 4-2 in SCIAC.

Women’s lacrosse defeated Colorado College 9-8 last Sunday to end their three-game losing streak. The Athenas are now 3-4 overall and 2-3 in SCIAC play.

Tennis won each of their three matches over the weekend, making them 7-0 in the season. The Athenas defeated University of the South (8-1) on Saturday and beat beat No. 15 Trinity (Texas) University and Case Western Reserve University 9-0 at the home on Sunday.

Athlete Spotlight

Madi Shove ’13 (above) does not just make her presence known on the Lacrosse field, but also on the soccer field, and as the co-chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She is also is media studies major, psych minor.
