The Athena basketball team went 2-0 last week, with victories over Pomona-Pitzer (66-57) and Cal Lu (56-45). The win Wednesday against the Sagehens ensured the Athenas would be in sole possession of the SCIAC title for the second year in a row, and their victory over Cal Lu solidified the Athenas’ perfect SCIAC record (16-0) for the season. Against Pomona, Kris Brackman (CMC ’18) had 16 points and six rebounds, while against Cal Lu, Kim Scamman (CMC ’15) scored 25 points and had eight rebounds. CMS is now 22-3 overall, 16-0 in the SCIAC. The Athenas will host a first-round SCIAC tournament game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Linde Activities Center.

The women’s swimming and diving team won the SCIAC Championships for the 13th consecutive year. The Athenas won the title with a score of 1,153, with the next-closest team scoring 1,085 (Pomona-Pitzer). On the first day in the 1-meter diving event, Maia Presti (SCR ’17) set the SCIAC and meet records en route to her first-place finish. On the third and fourth day of the meet, Emily McKinnon (CMC ’17) won the 100 and 200-yard backstroke.
