Welcome to Scripps College Information Technology’s web-based self-installation site.

From here you can install everything you need to get your computer set up

with Scripps College IT resources.


First Year & Transfer Students arriving August 2018  Your Official Scripps Account Credentials (network and email) are scheduled to be mailed to you and arrive around May 22, 2018.  After that date has passed please email IT if you have not received them.

Your network password allows you access to WiFi, Portal, Sakai, Box and other Scripps College resources.  Your email password is only to access your Scripps College Outlook account through Outlook Web Access or Outlook client.

**Please note: If you have a ChromeBook, we will not be able to install Scripps resources on it.  You will only be able to connect to wireless.

Software Updates:

Users will need to have the latest update of their operating system installed on their computer.  For example, if you have Windows 7, the latest version is Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1).  If you have a Mac running High Sierra, the latest version of this operating system is 10.13.3.

The latest updates to Mac and Windows operating systems are:


  • Windows 10: Creators Update (Version 1703)
  • Windows 8.1: KB 2919355 (Name of update in Windows Update)
  • Windows 7: Service Pack 1, (listed as KB976932 in Windows Update)


  • High Sierra: 10.13.3
  • Sierra: 10.12.6
  • El Capitan: 10.11.5

BOX Drive:

You have access to Box@Scripps unlimited cloud storage with your Scripps College account.  For instructions on how to install Box Drive, please click here.

Outlook Web Access (OWA):

Scripps College uses Office 365 hosted e-mail, which you may also hear referred to as Outlook. To access the web version of your Scripps e-mail, go to the following link in your favorite web browser and set a bookmark:

Office 2016 Applications (includes Outlook client):

If you wish, you can also install the Outlook client application on your computer as part of the College’s Office 365 program. For more information on installing and configuring Outlook (or other parts of Microsoft Office) please see our Scripps Office 365 page.

Network Printers:

Allows access to our Web based network laser printers. While you can install the print client while off campus, you may need to wait until you are on campus to add the hall and lab printers.

**Note:  For Mac users – If, when installing printers, you receive a message that says “Downloading Packages..”, you will need to install the print drivers and then try the installation again.  You can download the print drivers here.

Antivirus Client:

Note: Remove any other virus protection applications BEFORE installing.

**Please note: You will need to log in to your Portal account to retrieve your Trend serial number.**  To obtain your serial number, please click here.

Scripps College requires you to have and maintain antivirus software while you are enrolled with us. For students who do not already have antivirus software installed on their computers, Scripps provides Antivirus software free of charge. Download the Security program to your computer and follow the installation prompts.

Connect to WiFi:

When you are on campus, please change your network password on a Scripps IT lab Dell. Once changed, here is how you connect to the Claremont Wireless.
