Scripps College maintains the central authoritative data base for all major systems related to students, faculty, staff, alumnae and major donors on a single, central software platform. This central system is designed to preserve the integrity of the data, including security, access and accuracy. Additions, deletions or modifications to all records maintained on these central College files must be performed on these primary files.
If a department or individual requests to export and maintain data from the central authoritative database specific and exceptional permission must be approved by the Director of Information Technology and the Administrative Computing Committee to insure proper data integration with the primary, central files. In making requests to export data to a working file, the department working with Information Technology staff must identify the fields as well as the potential impact on all users. A plan for maintaining the central files must be made including a regular schedule for downloading and/or uploading between the working file and the central files.
