Green Bike Program
The goal of the green bike program is to inspire and increase bike culture on campus. Through the bike culture, we hope to inspire an environmentally conscious and sustainable travel culture. We do this through our various programs:
Fall 2015 hours
Monday: 4:30pm to 6:00pm
Wednesday: 3:00pm to 6:00pm
Thursday: 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Friday: 1:00pm to 3:00pm
The TFH Green Bike program puts out 20 bikes that can be rented by Scripps students for 24 hours at a time. This program is in place so that bikes are available and accessible to the Scripps community.
Each semester the TFH Green Bike program raffles off around 60 bikes to the Scripps student body. Those who are randomly selected have the opportunity to come and pick out a suitable bike and lock for the remainder of the semester.
Fix It Your Self
The TFH Green Bike program is a teaching based program that strives to give Scripps students the basic bike maintenance skills necessary to keep their own bike in good condition. The “Fix it Your Self” program, founded in Spring 2015, gives students the opportunity to come learn these skills by working with a technician to fix up a bike that then becomes theirs for the semester! We hope that through teaching bike maintenance students learn the value of a bike and feel enthusiastic about riding around what they worked to fix.
