Scripps student conference travel funds
For students presenting their own research at a conference, funds are available to supplement those from student organizations. Contact: Jennifer Armstrong
Do you plan on presenting at a conference this upcoming year? If so, there may be money available to help you with the associated costs such as registration, travel, and housing expenses. The first step to receiving funding from Scripps College is to submit a proposal, including your acceptance letter and a detailed list of your expenses to be incurred, to Scripps Associated Students, the Motley, and the Student Investment Fund. Typically, these groups ask that you share your experience with the college community through a noon lunch, a presentation to a club or organization or in the Motley at a set time. Also contact the meeting organizers and ask if they give discounts or subsidies for undergraduates presenting their own work.
If you are presenting your own research at a conference, and after you hear back from these campus organizations, you still have outstanding expenses, you then may submit a request for funding to the Associate Dean of Faculty, Professor Jennifer Armstrong, using the online form. Note that the funds will defray rather than completely cover the costs of attending the conference. After you return from your conference, you will need to submit a brief (1-2 page) report to Professor Armstrong.
Application is on a rolling deadline.
